Chinese Scientists Plan New Power Source

You may have seen power-generating windmills, but a potential new generation of wind-powered turbines would be hidden from the eye beneath railroad or subway tracks.

According to the MSNBC website, the “T-Box” is a device designed in China to sit between railroad ties, half underground, and take advantage of the wind created as the train whooshes above it. A train moving at 125 mph could produce about 3,500 watts of power captured and generated by the T-Box. The device could conceivably provide power to underserved communities along railway lines in remote areas of the country.
