Joan was blessed to begin her professional career at the early age of twenty. She rose to a management position in the highly competitive Calgary market at the acclaimed "Pizzazz Hair Design." She was a hairstylist, aesthetician and cosmetologist, she understands the intricate Fashion / makeup and beauty industry. She is always up to date on makeup artistry and fashion trends.
Joan decided to upgrade her skills. After graduating as an registered psychiatric nurse she was on staff for 13 years at Alberta Hospital Ponoka. She became an emergency response "clinical coordinator and instructor," teaching doctors and other nurses.. Her career focused on acute adult psychiatric admissions.
After returning to her home town of Medicine Hat, she opened her own practice as a family and marital stress reduction therapist. She pioneered the use of photography to assist bulimic / anorexic patients to, "see themselves," through the use of storyboarding and visual therapeutic processes.
Later she met and married her husband Scott. He was a freelance journalist submitting regularly to various publications. Slowly Joan began a new career becoming a sought after photographer, following Scott on many travel, political and entertainment assignments. Many of her images appeared in "The Medicine Hat News," one of Southern Alberta's largest newspapers.
